June Wine of the Month

Posted: 5/6/2018

Mendoza, Argentina 2017

A very popular wine. This beauty is crafted from the Malbec grape, grown at an altitude of 4000 feet high in the Andes. The grapes are picked by hand before undergoing a rigorous selection process. The wine is aged in French and American oak barrels for three to four months to soften and add texture.

The result is a finished product with an attractive red colour and violet hues. The wine has aromas of intense ripe fruit: cherries, blackberries, blueberries, and fresh plums, combined with spicy and floral hints. In the mouth the sweet and round tannins increase its fruit sensation and balance. A wine of good intensity, concentration and a long, supple after taste.

An Ideal partner for any sort of rich meat dish, BBQ's have a natural affinity.

The 2016 vintage of Altosur Malbec was recently awarded 93 points by Decanter Magazine - October 2016.

“Rarely does a wine so inexpensive show such complexity. With tarragon-flecked cherry and raspberry red aromas, and copious cherry flavours zipped up with mineral and herb, it's an easy purchase if you see a bottle.”
