Cruise in Company – Round the Lough weekend 4th -7th May 2018
The first Cruise In Company of the year was the planned Round the Lough Weekend. The event enjoyed the support of
Gran Cru – Dr Stanton & Patricia Adair
Stormbird – John & Heather Robb
Mynah Bird – David McArter
Raptor – Ian Stevenson & Frances McArthur
Pash II - John & Denise Reid
Events were impacted upon by the weather, which on a daily basis, ranged from thick fog until midday when thereafter the sun broke through allowing glorious sunshine. Many enjoyed a ‘lunch on the hook’ before making their way to Carrickfergus marina. The facilities at Carrickfergus marina are truly excellent and a credit to the operators.
On Saturday evening we enjoyed a pontoon reception in glorious sunshine. A huge thanks to Caroline for the excellent themed spread to complement our evening meal. Having repaired to the hospitality of Castello Italia a truly excellent meal was enjoyed by all. Much later and allowing for magnetic anomalies the entire party enjoyed a nightcap at Carrickfergus Sailing Club.
Sunday brought similar weather conditions. Decisions were made by respective boat owners in respect of destinations.
A visit to Carrickfergus Rugby Club provided entertainment by way of a Ladies 7’s rugby tournament and a BBQ
Thereafter all made for their respective home ports.
It was great to see many like-minded cruising folks enjoying such glorious weather. The youngest participants being 3 months and Sarah at 3 years. My personal thanks to all who made the effort and enjoyed the weekend together.
