Burns Night - Terrific!

Posted: 1/2/2018

The Bard would have been proud of of RUYC's tribute to his wit and eloquence at the Burns Night supper last Friday. As usual there was some sparkling performances by our speakers.

Master of Ceremonies  for the evening Tom Bell welcomed the members and guests. Frances McArthur delivered the Selkirk Grace. Glen Baxter (PSNI Pipe Band) piped in the Haggis presented by the Chef. The Haggis was theatrically addressed by Mark Johnston whereupon members and guests settled down to an excellent dinner.
Tom Bell toasted our Patron Her Majesty The Queen and our Commodore the Duke of Gloucester. Walter Burke toasted the Immortal Memory of Robbie Burns and entertained the dining room with a very enjoyable take on a Burns classic; To a Mouse. This was followed by an equally impressive toast to the Lassies by Dr. Stanton Adair. The reply on behalf of the Lassies was made by Alexandra Rainey and was very well received by all.
Tom Bell thanked all Members and Guests on behalf of Vice Commodore Nigel Hamilton, who was unable to attend
