Update on the Covid-19 Regulations

The Rear Commodore’s Further Update issued last Wednesday was based on the information available to us at the time from the NI Executive’s announcements.

Take Away Menu Now Available

A special Take Away menu is now available for Club Members.

Update on club dining

Unfortunately, due to Przemek having to travel to Poland at such short notice and his return on Tuesday the normal kitchen operations have been slightly affected. Christine Corran has worked doggedly to ensure we have a continued high level of service during Przemeks absence by bringing in staff from their other franchises during this period.

In order to comply with our local Executive Regulations, Przemek has to self isolate for 14 days from yesterday. Therefore, due to our limited manpower and slightly disrupted continuity, we have had to evaluate the situation regarding themed dining over the next couple of weeks.

Thankfully, planned dining can proceed with the exception of this weekends Sunday Carvery as there are only 18 covers booked and it is uneconomical to bring in the extra staff required. There will be an A la Carte menu instead. Those Members who have pre-booked will be contacted to consider their options.

At this stage, it is planned to treat all other events as ‘business as usual’. However, our trading operations remain very much in the hands of the Executive and any future regulations and guidelines.

Members will be kept up to date by this means, the App or Facebook

Covid-19 Update from the Rear Commodore

Further Update from Rear Commodore.

It is some weeks since my last update to members and with the summer now over I thought it would be appropriate to issue a further informative update.  It turned out my timing was perfect as we have just had a plethora of announcements from Government about the restrictions and protocols surrounding the Coronavirus situation. This has meant that we have had to reassess what facilities we can offer to members and what additional precautions we have to put in place to protect the health of both members and staff.

New Front of House Manager

This week sees the sad departure of our Front of House Manager, Michael McGinn to take up new opportunities elsewhere and we wish him the very best of luck with his new venture.

RUYC 2020 Golf Championship

Last Fridays golfing outing or to give it its formal title "the RUYC 2020 Golfing Championship” was a spectacular success. Despite a dodgy forecast, the sun came out at "Tee Off" time.  Thank you all for taking part and making it such an enjoyable occasion.  So many of our Club’s events have had to be cancelled owing to the Coronavirus situation, it was a great relief we were able to go ahead with the competition.

Autumn Series 2020

The 2020 Autumn Series will start this Sunday the 13th September, first Gun 09:55.  Racing will be around Windward/Leeward courses and Round the Lough type courses.  In a change to previous years, the race committee will indicate the race type on the morning of the race.  It is also possible that there will be more than one race on a Sunday.

Sailing Instructions are available here.

Round the Lough & Copeland Island race Series - Amendment to Sailing Instructions

Due to the forecast of light winds on Sunday, it has been decided to change the date of the Copeland Island Race until 23rd August 2020.  We will be running the last Round the Lough Race on Sunday 16th August instead.

Also, after feedback from some competitors there is a slight change in the course for the Copeland Island race.

The amendments to the Sailing Instructions can be found here.

Eat Out to Help Out Extended to Tuesday Evening

Due to the unprecedented popularity of the Wednesdays Eat Out to Help Out Scheme, we will be extending dining to Tuesday nights also.
The caterers are using fresh produce from local suppliers, therefore the menu will change week to week depending on what is available. However, if you do have a favourite that isn't on the menu that night, please feel free to ask the waiting staff and Przemek will do his best to accommodate. The menus can be found on our website:
Early booking is highly recommend and apologies to those who have not been able to get booked in to date!

Return of Thursday Night Sailing

The sailing Committee is happy to announce that we are going to offer some limited sailing on Thursday nights between the 13th August and 3rd September.

Due to the tight timescales, racing will be held on a windward/leeward course off the club house.  It is hoped to hold 2 quick races each night, although this will be weather dependent.

There will be 2 classes, restricted sail and unrestricted and the first gun will be at 18:55.

Sailing instructions are available here

Hope to see you all there.

Extended Dinning and Eat Out to Help Out

We are delighted to announce that the times for dining in the club will be extended from Wednesday 5th August, to not only re-introduce our ever-popular Saturday Brunch and Lunch service but opening on a Wednesday to allow our members to take advantage of the "Eat Out to Help Out Scheme"

Update on Club Covid-19 Guidelines

With the ever changing Government Covid-19 guidelines we appreciate that it has been difficult to keep up with the rules as we continue to relax them where possible.

To help members stay informed please find a simple list of the current Club guidelines.

The Back to Business Committee is continuing to meet regularly in an effort to get the club running as normally, but also as safely as possible.
