As to my own background: I studied at Queens University - firstly an honours degree in Political Science followed by a Masters in Irish Politics and History. After university I worked in the financial sector for 18 years, during which I had an interlude acting as an historical consultant to Harland & Wolff on a Titanic themed cruise ship project. I have had a life long interest and love of all things Ocean Liner since watching ‘A Night to Remember’ aged 4 and have always been fascinated not only the style and elegance of this most sophisticated form of travel, but also the wonderful engineering and technical achievements they represent. After the financial crash of 2007 I took the opportunity to retrain in something completely different and returned to college in Dublin where I trained as a Sports Therapist. I currently work for a physiotherapy practice in Holywood. However I still maintain an active interest in history - I volunteer as a house guide at Mount Stewart and give a number of different historical talks to various private groups on subjects as far ranging as Queen Victoria’s Children to Historic Jewels of Europe. My hobbies include walking, hiking and sea kayaking, I’m a keen equine artist, and an active member and Officer of the Ulster Reform Club.
