The Royal Northern and Clyde was formed in 1978 from a merger of The Royal Northern and The Royal Clyde Yacht Clubs. The Clubhouse is situated in Rhu with extensive grounds leading down to the Gareloch. We have a very active racing fraternity - in fact the original Gareloch One Design yachts which were built here in 1924 are still racing on a weekly basis. We also have a fleet of Sonars which are co-owned by members and the Club. These boats are used for fleet, Match and Team Racing.
