Robin McKelvey is a chartered architect, now retired, has been a member of RUYC for 40+ years and is currently a member of the General Committee and the House and Grounds Sub-committee. He has been a GC member previously and Hon. Sailing Secretary during our sesquicentennial year.

He started sailing in the early 1960s, mostly off-shore, and served for some years with Bangor RNLI. When living for a spell on the north coast, he crewed on a catamaran taking part in keen racing and enjoying cruising around the Hebrides. He became Hon. Secretary of Coleraine Yacht Club before returning to Bangor some 30 years ago. He resumed crewing at RUYC, Club points racing and events in Scotland and Dublin Bay and cruising including several trips around Ireland, Scotland’s west coast, Britany and Spain. He has recently served for two years as President of Instonians Club (Rugby, Cricket and Hockey).
