Jim has been an active sailor for over 50 years in dinghies, one design boats and offshore. He has competed both nationally and internationally in various classes. He currently sails one of the newest classes in Bangor, the radio controlled Dragonforce 65.

During his time at the club Jim has worked hard to promote sailing in Bangor and at the club. He was on Sailing Committee for 9 years, the last 4 as Sailing Secretary, he was also on general committee for 7 years.

He organised the 150th anniversary regatta and was responsible for re-introducing the successful Bangor Town Regatta in 2018.

He and his team on the sailing committee worked hard to provide members with innovative ways to get sailing during the recent pandemic whilst still complying with all the Government guidance.
